A story about generations of families and the special place they live in, sharing love, loss, laughter and life.. It was first published as a strip in the comic book magazine “Raw” in 1989 and was expanded into a 300-page graphic novel in 2014. Richard’s father at one point early in the film names several towns that are said to be along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, when in reality they are all towns that are along Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania that had not even been built at the time.. [from trailer] Richard: You know, if you want, you can spend the rest of the night here. Margaret: I could spend the rest of my life here.

I read the bad reviews and didn’t want to see this movie. But I went to see it with my family and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t one of the best movies of 2024 like “The Wild Robot.” But this movie hooked me from start to finish, when I expected to be bored when I heard the concept of the movie.
The actors did a good job
Probably my biggest complaint is that some of the stories felt a bit empty and incomplete compared to others. I wish there was more of a sense of equality between the stories of the area’s residents in different eras. And maybe it would have been nice if there was more to connect them all than just location. Maybe there’s something else I missed, because there’s a lot of detail in the movie. The 1950s and early 2000s really grabbed the majority of the story’s attention.
I thought the cinematography was top notch
The family from the last 10 years and the family from the 1920s and 1930s felt particularly one-dimensional to me. I liked the early 1900s family with their interest in flying and clips from before the house was built. The editing and transitions were very nice and made up for the lack of camera angles and variety. Then when the camera finally moved towards the end, there was something unexpected and magical. Overall, I found it solid and worth watching as it’s a very different and interesting film.
The story isn’t perfect
But I had a hard time criticizing the execution in terms of direction and editing. From Alien: Romulus to Road House, check out some of our favorite posters for 2024.
