Plot
Do you need a lawyer? He runs his law practice from his Lincoln and is ready to take off the gas. He moves around Los Angeles, taking care of business while balancing his personal life, which includes fatherhood and the presence of two ex-wives. Originally set up with CBS for a 2020 series, it was canceled just before filming the first episode due to COVID. Now Netflix has picked it up for a 10-episode first season based on Mickey Heller’s second book, The Brass Verdict. I liked the movie, but I think I like the show more. Taking such a decent film and making an adaptation that surpasses it as a whole is a colossal task. There is no doubt that they spent a fortune on this series. Background, dialogues, story – everything is at the highest level. Don’t expect it to be like a movie, because it’s not supposed to be, and don’t compare it to the novels (apples to oranges). I haven’t seen the lead actor (Garcia-Rulfo) play the lead in anything that I can remember, although he has appeared in some excellent films over the past decade. He copes with this role extremely well and I believe that we are witnessing an opportunity that has long been ready for him.
He can’t help but play
Surprisingly, he embodies the hero-lawyer essence required for the role (as does McConaughey). I believe that the success of the series depends only on this factor. Neve Campbell is great as always. The rest of the cast is satisfactory in my opinion. At least they don’t necessarily spoil the impression. It’s been years since we’ve had such exciting legal series as The Practice (David E. Kelly), Boston Lawyer (David E.
Kelly), Ellie McBeal (David E
Kelly), The Good Wife” (not Kelly) and now “Lincoln’s Lawyer” (David E. Kelly). If this series stands the test of time, like all the courtroom dramas before it, it will surpass anything currently on the airwaves (in this genre, of course). Within the first 30 minutes, I experienced the same excitement I remember many years ago. We used to be able to watch only one episode a week when they came out, but now, in the age of binge watching, I can soak it all up in a weekend. I have spent most of my life with all of David E.. Kelly’s creations and I don’t regret a single moment of my wasted youth.

The only question I have is why did they wait so long to give birth to another great one? Of course, it’s part of the mainstream these days, and whether we like it or not, the organism that is the entertainment industry is married to this “culture.” Accept it and move on or you’ll be denying yourself some of the benefits you deserve, like Lincoln for a lawyer. Entertainment value: 9. Acting: 6. Screenplay: 7. Camera: 8. Average: 7.5.
