Plot
After being released from prison after 25 years, New York mob boss Dwight “The General” Manfredi is exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sylvester Stallone’s first starring role in a television series. The opening sequence features various photographic and painted views and Oklahoma landmarks of the New York landscape: The statue of a Sioux Indian chief wearing a War Bonnet and Bone Choker necklace (breastplate) erected on top of the Brooklyn Bridge Golden Driller statue to the Statue of Liberty, Route 66 Western Gateway Arch to a Major Manhattan “Avenue”.

In New York City, the borough of Manhattan, which contains a number of numbered “Avenues”. which are crisscrossed by smaller numbered streets.. I thought this was going to be a fun show. We’ve gotten used to the idea that anything Stallone stars in these days is a comedy, and Tulsa King has a good dose of humor.
The characters are genuinely likable throughout
But Taylor Sheridan isn’t going to just create a simple parody of a mob story and use Stallone as a joke and a punchline. The show has promising depth, despite being about a former high-profile mobster forced to make a new start in a new city after a long prison sentence. Some comedy ensues when a New York mobster hits Tulsa to use his “old world” to establish his turf. ways.
Stallone gives a stellar performance
Although it’s not unusual to root for a “bad” one. The guy’s directness as a lead and his old-world common sense values appeal to those of us looking for something refreshing in the midst of today’s social nonsense. The irony of the message is that it takes a gangster who stoops to no one to break through and expose shallow social hypocrisy. It’s the same formula that made Yellowstone such a hit, and Sheridan knows that many want it.
Overall, it’s a very entertaining show that I look forward to, and a great addition to the Paramount+ portfolio
Before he became a caricature in his later roles that drove the Rocky and Rambo franchises into the ground, his acting and screen presence created these iconic roles. It’s good to see him back on screen in a role that feels perfect for him, and I’ll use that brash personality to add depth to his character and the show, rather than undermining it.
