ISB Hyderabad becomes first Indian b-school to be AACSB accredited

The Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad on Friday announced its accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), making it the first business school in South Asia to be recognised by the US-based prestigious accreditation agency.

The school joins 643 other b-schools across the world having the accreditation that is considered to be the most rigorous of all quality benchmarks in management education. The accreditation was coincidentally announced on the same day as ISB’s tenth anniversary.

In a press statement issued by the school, ISB Dean Ajit Rangnekar said, “We are confident that this recognition will translate into increased interest by the international community comprising of faculty, students and recruiters, and help us chart Asia’s and India’s growth as the global management education hub."

Plea to ban new engineering colleges in January
COIMBATORE: States, which are home to hundreds of engineering colleges, have communicated to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) not to grant approval for new technical institutions for the academic year 2012-13
Affiliation for private engineering colleges on yearly basis
KOLKATA: Private engineering colleges in Bengal can't take their affiliation to the West Bengal University of Technology for granted. The state government may cancel the affiliation if any of these colleges lacks the minimum infrastructure or teaching faculty, or makes any gross departure from the promise they make to students about placements. From now, affiliation to private engineering colleges will be granted on a yearly basis following inspection by expert teams.
MCI chairman asks Punjab for improvement in medical education
PATIALA : The chairman of Governors of Medical Council of India (MCI) Dr. KK Talwar urged Punjab government to provide better infrastructure in medical education in the state to check the decline in the standards of medical education in the state run medical colleges.
IIITM-K to conduct national workshop on medical image computing

Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management - Kerala (IIITM-K), the premier institution established by Government of Kerala for post graduate education in IT and Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Science & Technology (SCTIMST) are jointly organising a National Workshop on Medical Image Computing (NWMIC011) at the Technopark in Trivandrum during December 12-16, 2011. The workshop is sponsored by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.

The community of Indian scientists engaged in research and development activities in Medical imaging is limited to a handful in number. This is the first national level workshop in the area of Medical Image Computing. The workshop aims at bringing together a consortium of experts from Medical Imaging industries along with academic experts in the Medical image computing area, so as to initiate collaborative ventures and consortium projects in the area of medical imaging. The workshop also aims at initiating research projects based on this theme by bringing together a consortium of experts from physics, medicine, and engineering.............

FORE School of Management, New Delhi, PGDM Admission 2012 Extended
FORE School of Management (FSM), the Delhi based premium Management School, has extended the applications for the admissions in Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) for the upcoming 2012-14 session. The last date for submitting the applications now is December 12, 2011.

The courses on offer are Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and Post Graduate Diploma in International Business Management (PGDM – IB). The admissions are done on the basis of ranks in CAT 2011, followed by Group Discussions and Personal Interview. Apart from the marks, weightage is given to other skill sets like analytical reasoning, decision making skills, problem solving attitude, creativity, communications and other positive attributes of the student. The courses are conducted as per the guidelines of Delhi University an All India Council or Technical Education (AICTE). A student needs to have a recognized Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Candidates appearing in the final examination of graduation may also apply subject to furnishing proof of graduation by October 1st 2012 with minimum 50% marks.

The applications are available at FSM Campus or selected branches of Axis Bank on payment of Rs 2000/-. Those who want to apply online can do so by downloading the forms from the FSM website www.fsm.ac.in and making an online payment of Rs 1650/- through either Debit Card of Credit Card. 
AIIMS Releases Notification for AIPGMEE 2012

The All India Post Graduate Medical & Dental examination is tentatively slated to be held on 8th January, 2012 (Sunday). The notification from AIIMS confirms cancellation of NEET PG in the year 2012; earlier the medical education regulatory body MCI proposed a common medical entrance test ‘NEET PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate courses)’ and announced on it’s website click here

All-India Institute of Medical Sciences was established as an institution of national importance by an Act of Parliament with the objects to develop patterns of teaching in Undergraduate and Post-graduate Medical Education.

NIFT opens admission for 2012

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) with its centres in different parts of the country, including here, has announced that it is opening admission for various courses for the academic session 2012.

A press release issued by the NIFT at Dharmasala here said the prospectus and applications could be obtained from selected branches of Axis Bank and IDBI Bank across India. They would also be available at NIFT Kannur on payment of Rs.250 through demand draft in favour of NIFT payable at New Delhi. The amount should be Rs.350 if the application forms should be sent by post, it said.

The release said the NIFT at Kannur offered bachelor programmes in design (four years) such as B.Des (textile design) and B.Des (knitwear design) for which the eligibility for admission is 10 + 2 from any recognised board of education and Bachelor of Fashion Technology (apparel production) for which the eligibility is 10 + 2 with physics, chemistry, and mathematics as the main subjects.

New Delhi: An executive MBA, eight new finishing school courses and a B.Sc. IT for international market programme are now on the list of offerings at the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

The courses aimed at enhancing employability of students and tailor made according to the market demands will be launched in collaboration with a major IT trainer, the National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT).

The partnership agreement was signed on Saturday by IGNOU Vice Chancellor V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai and NIIT Chairman Rajendra S. Pawar.
