C MAT LAB OBJECTIVES –
FSSAI has established this centre in collaboration with Merck under the CSR Scheme to strengthen the skills and knowledge required for food testing analysis toIndian laboratories & Food Industries. This collaboration further aims to provide skills training, implement new technology for food testing to handle quality demands and advance food safety for nation and consumers new method development for food industries .
C MAT LAB MISSION –
C-MAT (Merck & FSSAI) with an aim to enhance skill developments pertaining to the Food Safety Industry. Merck has partnered with FSSAI – Food Safety and Standards Authority of India to set up a fully operational microbiological testing lab equipped with the latest instruments technologies. The prime motto behind this initiative is to provide top-notch training in microbiological testing to food safety scientists & officials belonging to govt labs and also to FSSAI certified private labs and food industries and new method development for FSSAI and food testing .
C MAT LAB VISION –
To assure that this center will provide world-class training for food analysts and other technical personnel, food industries from laboratories across the nation also providing a complete food pathogen testing platform to the food and beverage safety testing market and provides food and beverage safety and quality through lab testing efficiency and regulatory expertise and new method development for food industries and FSSAI.

1.Training Programme on Basic Techniques in Microbiology
Three days Training Program on “Basic Techniques in Microbiology” held from 18 th – 20 th September, 2019 at Centre for Microbiological Analysis Training (C-MAT), NFL, Ghaziabad.
- Eleven (11) trainees participated in the training program from different State Food Laboratories across the country (Rajasthan, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand,, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat).
2. Hands on Training – Food Microbiological Techniques for High Risk Foods – Meat & Poultry
- Five days Hands on Training –Food Microbiological Techniques for High Risk Foods-Meat and Poultry to be held from 20 th -24 th January, 2020 at Centre for Microbiological Analysis Training (C-MAT), National Food Laboratory (NFL), Ghaziabad,
- FSSAI in association with CHIFSS organised this training program in which leading MNCs across the county(like Venky, Venkateshwara , Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited, Shalimar , Vista, Jubilant, CEG Test House, Chennai Mettex and Neogen).
- Eleven (11) trainees participated in the training program.
